The Finishing Touch

by David Mitchell on March 28, 2012

The other day a colleague called and mentioned she had referred me to a potential new client who had just bought a new house in Virginia. She said that she always loves that our interiors are completed which I took as a great complement. You can always buy the most beautiful furniture and pick the most scrumptious paint color but it never comes alive until you start adding the art and accessories into the room. One of the freshest things that anyone can do is use modern art in a traditional house. The images below are an excellent example of this. In a room where the upholstery is a toile fabric on Bridgewater club chairs and beautiful antique Gustavian wooden pieces along with a pair of wing chairs, introducing modern art in the space made the room come alive. Using accessories like rock crystal lamps and hand made pottery added more texture and completed the composition.
