This morning I had a meeting with one of our young clients about some pieces to finish their house and she showed me three things they liked from Restoration Hardware. It got me thinking, she is such a cute young fashionable women. She always looks like she stepped out of the pages of the J Crew catalog. J Crew is definitely one of the most popular clothing companies around. It is stylish, fun, and original. President and style director, Jenna Lyons is definitely a style icon and has influenced the world of fashion. But, it seems to me that Restoration Hardware is the opposite of J Crew, dingy, boring, a retelling of things of the past, and a copycat. There is nothing original about it. It just doesn’t seem like the kind of stuff that the modern women would want. So here is my question, does the J Crew girl live in a Restoration Hardware house?

" Three things" from RH does not make an RH house. Just because someone doesn't like the total aesthetic of RH doesn't mean they can't find a few individual pieces that, in the context of the space and the rest of the scheme, won't add that necessary unexpected twist. Mixing high and low is a very funky and young thing to do. High end or matchy matchy can look stuffy and ageing. Sounds like your funky, young, eclectic client knows her own style well.

OMG! I am dying of laughter. You nailed it. Great way to compare personal style to ideal style.
