Design master Tom Dixon’s new nut cracker is an object worth having. There is nothing more enjoyable then cracking some walnuts in front of the fire on a cold winters day.
Scarp Ridge Lodge in Crested Butte Colorado was recently named one of the coziest hotels in America by the Wall Street Journal and I definitely agree! This seven-bedroom luxury property is unique because you rent the entire lodge, which includes a game room, cinema, small spa, an indoor salt-water lap pool and a private chief. They even pipe in oxygen because the lodge sits 9,000 feet above sea level. You have access to an amazing assortment of gear, your own horse drawn sleigh and a personal photographer that follows you around for your entire trip and produces a coffee table book for you to bring home. And at $12,000 a night it’s a bargain!
For the last 10 years it was all about antlers and barnwood but there definitely seems to be a sea of change coming and the embrace of the old salty dog. We are entering the age of the anchor, the boat and the sea.
A couple weeks ago I stopped by my friend, Brian and Fred’s house to see what was going on. Apparently it was an evening in which they were experimenting being parents. These two guys who are big brawny bearish men were entertaining their niece for an evening. So, as we all settled into the family room for cheese pizza and Hawaiian punch (I do question their parenting skills in feeding a 6 year old Hawaiian punch at 7:30 at night) and a little entrainment from the Disney channel. Now, I am not much of a viewer of the Disney channel but I will admit that the shows we were watching were entertaining. But, the best part was Disney’s amazing video that empowers young women, ‘I am a princess.’ I was so memorized about what a positive message this video communicated. I thought is was definitely worth sharing.
From sunny Florida for Christmas to Freezing Denver for New Years it was a busy holiday season. And there is nothing better then starting New Years Eve day than breakfast at Snooze and enjoying some of their world famous sweet potato pancakes.
Here I am on New Years Eve morning freezing my butt off and dreaming about pancakes
Worth the 45 min wait.
Over the Christmas holiday one of the many places I went to was visiting some friends in Palm Beach. While I enjoyed the glamour of Palm Beach the beautiful people, the great shopping on Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach and the superb weather, the thing I most enjoyed was the landscape architecture that dominates every street. I especially loved the graphic quality of a lot of the gardens from simple boxes to 22′ tall walls all sculpted out of nature. Here are some of my favorite examples;
What a hell of a year! Google’s Zeitgeist 2012 video sums up this remarkable year with sight, sound and emotion in 2:46 min from Felix Baumgartner’s historical jump to Honey Boo Boo’s assault on us all, no one could call 2012 a boring year!
After all the indulgence of the holiday season I love January, it’s a great month to clean your palette.
Sorry I haven’t been posting at all. But, things have been busy here in the office and as much as I love putting together blog posts for Uncensored, clients come first. I will be back January 1st with lots of interesting things to talk about…and I might even challenge you this year. Stayed tuned 2013 will be a remarkable year, I promise!
